frontline: the persuaders | PBS

Yes, I'm posting a Frontline link again. I think this is one of my favorite shows, especially considering that they post the entire episode on the website along with extended content. Last week they broadcast frontline: the persuaders, a doc from author Douglas Rushkoff. An amazing and frightening insight into marketing both commercial and political content. The merging of the two is of particular interest, considering the direction our political process has been going here in the US. Divisiveness is not only accepted, it is encouraged, allowing fringe topics, important to only a few, to become the deciding factor in the minds of the electorate.

I know I'm guilty as well of falling under the influence of elements of propaganda and influence that are in step with my point of view, and I know it needs to be kept in check. Common ground is becoming more scarce as these lines are drawn and re-drawn by those in power, and we need to regain our ability to share and celebrate our differences as well as our connectedness.

I wish they would publish Frontline on DVD! I always miss it, and it's a pain to try and watch it online.
