What's Wrong With Digital Music Stores?
Eric Dahl, of PC World asks several good questions in his article The Playlist: What's Wrong With Digital Music Stores?. As usual, the questions have already been answered, for several years now, by sites such as eMusic.com, bleep, audiolunchbox, and others.
To break it down, he says:
Prices Are Too High
Answer: eMusic.com uses a subscription model, which averages around $0.29 US per track.Sound Quality Varies
Answer: Check out this report on the relative quality of AAC Audio to MP3. eMusic.com uses high quality 192VBR encoded MP3's.Compatibility Shouldn't Be an Issue
